The new hog

I think that if Harley Davidson had a competitor in the realm of making motorcycles for large individuals in a parallel universe or another country I'll bet it would be called "Sumosaki".

Moving from art to business

Business (and politics) are what make the world go. It is what causes famine, war, and classism. It also produces tools for comfort and for pleasure, provides us with something meaninful to do with our lives, and it will someday find the cure for cancer.

Those who are involved with business might tell you that it consumes their very being. They do not take long vacations, they do not leave the office early, they do not eat a healthy diet.

Art, then, is for people who have nothing else to do with their time.

And thank goodness that their are artists around to talk to businessmen and women as the world would be a pretty hungry place w/o their clear emotional communication, moral storytelling (and reminders), and sometimes plain old diversions from the laser sharp focus that has taken more than it's share of lives.

Pet Name

You know Jedd, we've known each other for a good long time now, and I think I've finally come up with the perfect nickname for you: "Fire hazard"

fame and toil

The geeks shall inherit the earth.

...or maybe they will continue to toil in dark basements late at night for the rest of their natural lives, their names known only by their FedEx and Domino's delivery persons.

Right-guard

I think a good name for a bodyguard service company would be "butt guard".

Young snappah

I think you are a lot smarter than you are given credit for. I think, as a matter of fact, that you come here with all of the knowledge of many lifetimes. I think you do know instinctually what is right and wrong, what is just and what is unjust. You are aware of what is going on around you, but until you are educataed you don't know how to put it into words.

Definitions from the deep

Swirlwind: You see, shitstorms come at you from the outside... but a "swirlwind" consists of stuff you've had in your immediate surroundings for quite some time that has been stirred up into some strange kind of frenzy and that you personally are completely responsible for.

The economics of being old and boring

I don't know if you've shopped at one of those fancy stores that sells both books AND music albums lately, but if you have you might have noticed that a book costs about the same price as a compact disk. But did you realize that one gives you a paltry 100 words while the other give you, are you ready for this?: 40,000-to-70,000. You tell me which is the word value and idea champion. Oh yeah, I thought so...

The World

I'd like to think that American's aren't totally incapable of 'getting it' -- it's just that they're too self-centered to come up with it for themselves.
