What's In A Name
Yeah, there are probably a lot of good reasons to not legally change your name like:
- legal cost
- suspicion of a criminal past from those who accept applications and credit forms from you in the future
- that whole disrespect of your parents thing
- even though your name might be embarrassing to you, there are many cultures and people who do not understand your name or know what it means
Perhaps a less obvious reason is the idea that even though your name is embarrassing, it has (along with your family) somehow survived all this time. While famous and powerful families have pedigree and legacy and legend, you at least have tenacity and an origin, even if it sounds like you clean tiolets for a living.
